So British Petroleum Has Police Powers In America ~ Interesting

Well isn't this an interesting an development.  British Petroleum, a foreign company who needs a permit to drill in American water for oil now possesses police powers to arrest American Journalist for filming on Public Land....in America.   What is there left to say but:  America is no longer America.

Emerging reports are raising the question of just how much of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill journalists are able to document.
When CBS tried to film a beach with heavy oil on the shore in South Pass, Louisiana, a boat of BP contractors, and two Coast Guard officers, told them to turn around, or be arrested.
"This is BP's rules, it's not ours," someone aboard the boat said. Coast Guard officials told CBS that they're looking into it.
As the Coast Guard is a branch of the Armed Forces, it brings into question how closely the government and BP are working together to keep details of the disaster in the dark.
Furthermore, this may not be the sole incident of its kind. According to Mother Nature Network's Karl Burkhart, his contacts in Louisiana have given him unconfirmed reports of equipment being turned away or confiscated.

We've actually addressed this issue in a statement.

Bottom-line: we were very disappointed to learn about this situation, as we want to maximize transparency and knowledge about the nature of this spill. However, and it wasn't the case here, we have to balance that with safety and interference with the clean-up efforts.

Thanks for your interest in this situation and please keep updated by visiting http://deepwaterhorizonresponse.com.

This is unfortunately just another blatant example of the corporate control of our government -- as if the Iraq war weren't enough evidence of that already (and the fact our puppet heroin-smuggling despot leader of Afghanistan is a former executive of Unocal Oil).

What's worse is that nearly a month after the spill, Obama still refuses to be transparent and will not officially tell the public just how severe and devastating this spill is. He is in essence towing the line of his BP corporate masters by not letting scientists determine the magnitude with the information that the government and BP have available.

How many more corporate pockets does Obama have to prove himself to be in before those on the "left" stop blindly cheering an administration proving, yet again, to be another front for the corporate control of democracy.

Seems that you should have let them arrest you If there was ever a story to be had this is the one

I thought journalists had guts or something like that to make you want the story

This would be the one to stand next to the pentagon papers

All you have to do is get arrested by BP and the whole thing comes apart

And a new lawyer makes a name as a saviour to the press

So go make history

Please show me your statement about the video tape evidence of clean sand being dumped over oil-laden beaches and then called "cleaned up".

Or how about the latest video evidence that shows workers spraying a bleach-like chemical cocktail on beaches to bleach out the dark oil soup that BP has released into the environment.

Your snakeoil salesmanship may have worked 100 years ago, but not today.

Give it up. We know what we saw!
